Word Rain
Type each falling word before it hits the ground and keep your three lives as the rain gets faster.
Controls
Type the falling word to clear it. A stray letter clears your typed word and combo; Backspace removes the last letter. Esc pauses the game.
Catch the words before they land
Word Rain turns spelling practice into a calm but busy storm. Words drop from the top of the screen inside little raindrops, and you clear them by typing them out. Miss too many and the storm wins, so the game rewards steady, accurate fingers more than frantic ones.
How to play Word Rain
Just start typing. As soon as the first letters you type match the start of a falling word, the game locks on to that word and highlights what you have typed so far. Finish the word and the drop pops. If a letter does not match any falling word, the game clears what you have typed so far and your combo resets, so start the word again from its first letter. Backspace only removes the last letter you typed. Press Esc at any time to pause, then come back when you are ready.
Lives, combo and levels
You begin with three lives. Each drop that reaches the ground costs one life, and the game ends when all three are gone. Clear words in a row without a slip and your combo grows, which raises the points for each word up to double the base score. Every ten words you clear, the level goes up: the words fall a little faster and arrive a little sooner, and longer words start to join the shorter ones. Early levels use short three and four letter words, while later levels bring in longer ones such as rainbow or adventure.
Skills you will build
- Reading ahead while your hands finish the current word.
- Spelling common English words correctly without looking at the keys.
- Staying accurate under mild time pressure.
- Recovering quickly from a slip and restarting the word.
For teachers and parents
The word lists climb gently from very short words to longer ones, so one game works for a mixed group. Ask learners to say each word quietly before typing it, and have them try to beat their own best level rather than a classmate. For a baseline, take the typing test first, then compare after a week of play.
