More ways to practice
Back to typing practiceHow this practice works
Everyone has a few keys that cause trouble. Maybe it is Q, or Z, or the letter next to the one you meant to press. This page builds its words around the letters you missed in your last run, so you spend your time on the keys that need it most.
First, finish a typing test or a practice run on this site. The site notes which letters you got wrong. Then open this page: the words are chosen from a common-word list because they contain those letters. If there are not enough matching words, or you have no list yet, the page falls back to the most common English words.
Your data stays on your device
Your list of missed letters is stored only in this browser, using your browser's local storage. It is not sent to a server and it is not tied to an account. If you clear your browser data or switch to another device, the list starts fresh. That also means the page works without any signup.
Using the page
- Run a test or practice session first, such as the typing test or sentence practice.
- Open this page and choose No timer, 1 min, or 3 min.
- Type the words. Your WPM and accuracy appear at the end.
- Repeat. The list changes as the letters you miss change.
Tips
- Slow down on the words with your trouble letters. Do not skip ahead.
- Check which finger is supposed to press the key and use that one.
- If a key keeps appearing, practice it in a lesson, then come back.
- Do two or three short sessions rather than one long one.
The list is based on your last run only, so it moves around as you improve. For structured help with a specific row, try the Learn to Type lessons, or for fixed sets of words use common words practice.
A feedback loop that works
The best way to use this page is as a loop. Take a one-minute test, open Weak Keys Practice for a few minutes, then test again. If the same letters keep appearing, slow down and check your finger placement, because an error that repeats usually points to a habit, such as using the wrong finger. If the letters change from run to run, that is a good sign: it means your trouble spots are moving and shrinking as you improve.
Think of the list as a gentle coach rather than a score. It does not judge you, and it does not follow you around. It simply takes the letters from your last run and hands you words that need them, so each minute of practice goes where it helps most. Because everything stays in your own browser, you can use it as freely as you like.
This is a practice aid, not a diagnosis. Your results are for your own use.
