Type Tower

Build a tall tower by typing words that fit the shape of each block, then keep it from toppling over.

Controls

Type the first letter to pick a block, then finish its word. Backspace fixes a wrong letter. Esc pauses the game.

Stack blocks with words

Type Tower mixes typing with a little building puzzle. Each block you place needs a word of a certain length, and you earn the block by typing that word correctly. Choose well and your tower grows tall and steady. Rush it, and the whole thing wobbles.

How to play Type Tower

At the top of the screen you see a few blocks waiting, each labeled with a word. Pick a block by typing the first letter of its word, then finish the word to drop it onto the tower. Long words make wide, heavy blocks, and short words make narrow ones. Your job is to mix them so the tower stays balanced.

Balance and height

A wide block on a narrow tip will tip over, so you need to think about the shape before you type. Each completed floor adds to your height score. Typing a word without mistakes makes the block land neatly, while a slip makes it land a little off-center. A tower that stays standing for ten floors earns a star.

Skills you will build

  • Planning ahead while still typing accurately.
  • Typing words of different lengths with equal confidence.
  • Thinking about patterns and balance, not just speed.
  • Staying calm when a plan goes slightly wrong.

For teachers and parents

This game is a good brain break from drills because it asks players to decide, not just to react. Ask learners to explain why they chose a block. For a pure speed measure to go with it, offer the typing test afterward.

A quick tip

Glance at the top of your tower before you pick a block. Two seconds of planning usually saves a wobbly floor, and the typing itself stays smooth.

Frequently asked questions

Is Type Tower free?
Yes. You can play it in your browser without downloading anything.
Is it a speed game?
Not mainly. Planning and accuracy matter as much as speed, so it suits thoughtful players.
Why does my tower wobble?
Wide blocks on narrow spots, or words typed with mistakes, make blocks land off-center. Try mixing block sizes.
How do I earn stars?
Build a tower that stays up for ten floors. Cleaner typing helps your blocks land more evenly.
Does it teach spelling?
It helps, because you type every word in full. The word list uses common everyday English words.
