Echo Keys

Watch and listen to a crystal key pattern, then type it back; every right answer makes the sequence one key longer.

Controls

Watch and listen while the pattern plays. Then type the same keys in the same order. A wrong key costs a heart and the right key glows; five seconds of waiting costs a heart and replays the pattern. Esc pauses the game.

Listen, remember, type it back

Echo Keys is a memory game set in a glowing crystal cave. The cave plays a pattern of keys, lighting each one and giving it a clear note. When the pattern ends, it is your turn to type the same keys in the same order. It is a calm way to train both memory and the locations of the keys.

How to play Echo Keys

First watch and listen while the cave plays the sequence. You cannot type during playback. When it stops, type the keys in order. If you get all of them right, the sequence comes back one key longer. If you press a wrong key, you lose a heart and the right key glows as a hint, so you can keep typing from the same spot. If you wait more than five seconds without typing, you also lose a heart and the cave replays the same sequence so you can try again. Esc pauses the game. The game has sound, and the sound starts as soon as you begin.

Hearts and longer chains

You have three hearts. Each mistake or long pause costs one, and the game ends when they are gone. The pattern grows by one key after each success, so your best result is how long a sequence you can remember. If you leave the keyboard, the five-second limit takes your hearts one by one and the game ends by itself.

Skills you will build

  • Remembering a sequence of keys.
  • Matching sounds and lights to keyboard positions.
  • Typing without looking at the keys.
  • Staying calm after a slip.

For teachers and parents

Echo Keys works as a short brain break. Ask children to say the sequence quietly as it plays. Younger children may do well with short sequences, while older students can push for long ones. For speed on full text, follow up with the typing test.
