Make music with your keyboard
Key Rhythm turns typing into a rhythm game. Letters glide in from the right along a track, and a line near the left marks the beat. When a letter reaches the line, you press its key and a note of the song plays. Hit them all in time and you perform the whole tune yourself.
How to play Key Rhythm
Listen to the steady beat and watch the letters approach. Press each key just as the letter touches the line. A press that is right on time scores Perfect, a slightly early or late one scores Good, and a miss simply lets the note slip by. The backing track keeps playing whatever you do, so the music never stops.
Songs and tempo
The game includes original songs written for the site, from slow and easy to quick and lively. Slower songs use home row letters, and faster songs add more keys and shorter gaps. Your final score blends timing with accuracy, and a streak meter rewards long runs of on-time hits with extra sparkle.
Skills you will build
- Typing with a steady, even rhythm instead of in bursts.
- Reacting to letters at a controlled pace.
- Listening and typing at the same time.
- Relaxing your hands, since tense fingers miss the beat.
For teachers and parents
Rhythm is a hidden part of good typing, because smooth typists keep an even gap between keys. Key Rhythm helps learners feel that pulse. It is also a great option for music classrooms. Encourage players to tap along with their feet. For more tunes, see all music typing games, browse the typing games list, or measure your overall speed with the typing test. A quick tip
Start on the slowest song, even if it feels easy. Learning to land every note on time first makes the faster songs far more enjoyable.
