Letter Fish

Swim with a friendly fish and gobble up the letters that spell each word on the card, in the right order.

Controls

Press the key for the next highlighted letter. A wrong key only pops a bubble. Esc pauses the game.

A fish with a spelling hunger

Letter Fish takes place in a bright, bubbly pond. At the top, a card shows a simple picture word, such as sun or frog. Below, letters float past in the water. Your little fish eats the letters in the right order by pressing the keys, and when the word is complete the card sparkles and a new one appears.

How to play Letter Fish

Look at the card, then watch for the first letter of the word to float by. Press that key to gobble it up. The next letter is highlighted, so you always know what comes next. If you press a wrong key, a bubble pops and nothing is lost. There is no timer, and the letters circle back around, so children can take their time.

Pond levels

The first ponds use three-letter words with easy pictures. As children progress, the words get longer and the pond gets busier, with more floating letters to pick from. After completing a pond, children collect a new fish for their aquarium, which is a gentle reward for steady practice.

Skills you will build

  • Spelling simple words from a picture clue.
  • Finding letters on the keyboard by sight.
  • Understanding that letters go in a certain order.
  • Building a love of short, cheerful practice sessions.

For teachers and parents

Read each word aloud with your child before they begin, then stretch the sounds slowly. This ties phonics to typing. The game works well alongside Keyboard Balloon Pop, and you can find more titles under typing games for kids. Older siblings can try the typing test, and everything is listed on the typing games page.

A quick tip

Let your child say each letter name or sound as the fish eats it. Speaking while typing helps the spelling stick and makes the game feel like play.
